Green Tug Transition Programme
Recently, India's Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways launched the Green Tug Transition Programme (GTTP) and inaugurated India's first National Centre of Excellence in Green Port & Shipping (NCoEGPS) in Gurugram, Haryana.
About the Programme
- The program will start with ‘Green Hybrid Tugs’, which will be powered by Green Hybrid Propulsion systems and will subsequently adopt non-fossil fuel solutions such as methanol, ammonia, and hydrogen.
- Target has been set for the initial Green Tugs to start working in all major ports by 2025. (Tugs aid in maneuvering ships in and out of port by towing, pushing, and guiding them, ....
