Cabinet Approves Incentive Scheme to Promote Critical Mineral Recycling
On 3rd September 2025, the Union Cabinet approved a Rs. 1,500 crore Incentive Scheme to develop the capacity for recycling critical minerals from secondary sources.
- This move is part of the National Critical Mineral Mission (NCMM), aimed at bolstering India's capacity and resilience in critical mineral supply chains.
Key Features
- Scheme Duration: The scheme will run for six years, from FY 2025-26 to FY 2030-31.
- Target Feedstock: The scheme will focus on recycling materials such as e-waste, Lithium-ion Battery (LIB) scrap, and catalytic converters from end-of-life vehicles.
