Lok Sabha Passes Competition (Amendment) Bill 2022

On 29th March, 2023, the Lok Sabha passed the Competition (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which seeks to amend the Competition Act, 2002.

  • The Competition (Amendment) Bill, 2022 was originally introduced in Lok Sabha on August 5, 2022.
  • Subsequently referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance headed by Jayant Sinha for examination and report.

  • It seeks to amend the Competition Act, 2002, to regulate mergers and acquisitions based on the value of transactions.
