Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance Amendment Rules, 2025
On 31st January 2025, the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) notified Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Amendment Rules, 2025, amending the 2020 rules.
- These Rules have been notified under the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016.
- In the 2020 rules, the Centre could allow Aadhaar authentication only “in the interest of good governance, preventing leakage of public funds, promoting ease of living of residents and enabling better access to services for them".
