IREDA Accorded ‘Navratna' Status: UPSC Mains General Studies Paper 3: :Current Affairs in Economy Watch
On 26th April, 2024, the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), a public sector enterprise, has been granted the coveted ‘Navratna’ status by the central government.
- This prestigious designation takes the total number of Navratna PSEs (Public Sector Enterprises) in India to 17.
Criteria for Navratna Status
- Navratna status is a special designation given to select Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) in India. These companies play a vital role in the country’s economy and enjoy a distinguished position compared to other PSUs, both nationally and internationally.
