RBI Committee on FREE-AI
On 26th December 2024, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the composition of a committee to develop a Framework for Responsible and Ethical Enablement of Artificial Intelligence (FREE-AI) in the Financial Sector.
- Aim: To ensure that financial institutions adopt AI technologies in a responsible and ethical manner while maintaining operational efficiency and security.
- Chairman: Dr. Pushpak Bhattacharyya, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Bombay.
Terms of Reference
- To assess the current level of adoption of AI in financial services, globally and in India.
- To review regulatory and supervisory approaches on AI with focus on financial sector globally.
