EC proposes Remote Voting for Migrant Workers
Recently, the Election Commission (EC) announced that it is ready to pilot remote voting for domestic migrants. For this, the commission has developed a prototype for a Multi-Constituency Remote Electronic Voting Machine (RVM).
- In 2020, the EC set up a four-member panel of experts from the Indian Institutes of Technology and the National Informatics Centre to assess the technology to enable remote voting.
- The panel presented a concept plan for the dependence on technology in the conduct of elections.
