India’s 47th Ramsar Site
The Haiderpur Wetland in Uttar Pradesh has recently been recognized as the 47th Ramsar site in India. It is the 2463rd Ramsar site in the world.
Haiderpur Wetland
- Area: The man-made Haiderpur Wetland is spread over an area of 6,908 hectares in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.
- Formation: It was formed in 1984 on a floodplain of the River Ganga on the Madhya Ganga Barrage.
- Location: The wetland is located within the boundaries of Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary.
- Biodiversity: In terms of supporting life, the wetland is a habitat for numerous animals and plant species. It is home to more than 30 species of ....
