Chief of Defence Staff Post Announced by PM

On 15th August Prime Minister announced the new Post of Chief of Defence Staff from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

  • It is the post of combined head of Army, Navy and Airforce.
  • The scope of responsibility of the CDS is being worked out.
  • He would also provide major inputs for the National Security Strategy and will be responsible for producing the National Military Strategy.
