J&K High Court Opines ’Darbar Move’ a Burden on Exchequer
Recently, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court asked the Centre and the Union Territory (UT) administration to take a final call on the continuation of the 148-year-old practice of shifting capitals annually between Srinagar and Jammu, which burdens the exchequer citing its limitation on the extent of jurisdiction on the matter.
- The high court had recently taken suo moto cognisance of the order issued by the Union territory’s administration which had delayed the darbar switch from Jammu to Srinagar in view of the coronavirus pandemic.
