Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Merger Act 2019

On 9th Dec, the President gave assent to the Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (Merger of Union Territories) Bill, 2019 to merge two Union territories Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli into one unit.

Salient Features of the Act

  • It amends the First Schedule of the Constitution to merge the territories of the two UTs: Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. The merged territory will form the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
  • It amends Article 240(1) of the Constitution which allows the President to make regulations for certain UTs, ....
